For online shops and websites · updated 26 October 2026
Is your website a lawsuit target? Check it free in 10 seconds.
Online shops get sued or fined over the same few things: a site blind visitors can't use, subscriptions that are hard to cancel, trackers that ignore "don't sell my data", chat recording, and fees added at checkout. This scan looks for the signs of each in your site's code and tells you what to check.
- Accessibility problems ADA lawsuits quote
- Subscription apps and missing renewal or cancel wording
- "Do Not Sell or Share" link, Global Privacy Control, consent tool
- Ad pixels, session recording and chat widgets
- Fee wording and signs you sell to the EU

Scan my site for lawsuit risks
We read the page the way a search engine does. Nothing is changed on your site, and we don't keep the results.
What the scan looks for, and why
| Area | The rule | What's happening | Our fix |
|---|---|---|---|
| Accessibility | ADA (US), WCAG 2.1 AA | 2,045 federal lawsuits in January to June 2026, 952 of them against Shopify stores (Ecomback) | Fix and proof report, from $399 |
| Subscriptions | State auto-renewal laws in 28 states and D.C. | Class actions in California and Illinois; a $7.5 million YouTube TV settlement in 2026 (Legal500) | Auto-renewal and cancel audit, $299 |
| Privacy opt-outs | California and 11 other states: Do Not Sell or Share, Global Privacy Control | Tractor Supply fined $1.35 million in 2025; Honda $632,500; Todd Snyder $345,000 (White & Case) | Opt-out browser test, $499 |
| Trackers and chat | California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA) | Tens of thousands of claims and demand letters since 2022 over pixels, session recording and chat; SB 690 removes some pixel claims from 2027, but chat and wiretap claims stay | Included in the privacy check |
| Fees | California honest pricing law (SB 478) | Bike brands sued in 2026 over pickup "shipping" and "destination" fees added at checkout | Show the full price: quoted with any fix |
| Selling to the EU | European Accessibility Act | In force since 28 June 2025; first fines in Germany and France in 2026 (report) | EU add-on, $149 |
Fees added to the price
California's honest pricing law (SB 478, in force since July 2024) requires the price you advertise to include every fee a customer has to pay, except government taxes and shipping. Fees named "service", "processing", "handling", "destination" or "environmental" that appear only at checkout are what plaintiffs look for. In February 2026 the same lawyer sued two bike brands: Specialized (a shipping fee even for store pickup and a $15 recycling fee; settled) and Giant (a $75 destination fee) (Slowtwitch).
The fix is usually simple: include the fee in the product price, or show it with the price everywhere the price appears. The scan flags fee words on the page; it can't see your checkout, so check that too.

Questions
Does a clean scan mean my site is safe?
No. The scan reads the page code before scripts run, on up to two pages. It can't see checkout, logged-in pages, or whether trackers wait for consent. It shows signs worth checking, never that a site complies with a law.
Do all of these laws apply to my business?
Not always. California's privacy law covers businesses above about $26.6 million in yearly revenue or with data on 100,000+ people, and the EU Accessibility Act exempts small service businesses (under 10 staff and €2 million turnover). Accessibility, wiretap and auto-renewal claims have no such size limit. Your lawyer can tell you which apply.
Is this legal advice?
No. We check and fix website code and wording. For a lawsuit, demand letter or regulator notice, talk to a lawyer; we work alongside them.
Who does the work?
DisputeKit, run by Shubhankar Sharma in India. We use automated tools and AI to work faster, and every finding and fix is checked before you see it. We're not lawyers and don't give legal advice; your lawyer decides what the law requires for your business.
