Steps (chase.com or the app)

  1. Sign in and open the card or checking account with the charge.
  2. Tap the transaction, then Report a problem.
  3. Pick the reason: for example not received, not as described, cancelled, charged twice, or a refund that never arrived.
  4. Fill in the form with what happened and when you contacted the merchant.
  5. Review and submit.

To track it: open the account, tap the three-dot menu, then Account Services and Track Disputes.

Before you file

  • Ask the merchant first, in writing. A refusal or no reply makes your dispute much stronger. How to ask for a refund.
  • Gather proof: receipt, order page, tracking, photos, cancellation confirmation and your messages with the seller.
  • Write it plainly: what you bought, what went wrong, what you asked the merchant for, and what you want back.

Your deadlines

  • Debit card or checking fraud (Regulation E): report fast. Your liability can be capped at $50 if you report a lost card within 2 business days, and grows the longer you wait.
