For Amazon US sellers · checked 3 November 2026
Check your insurance certificate before Amazon rejects it.
From 2 November 2026, Amazon US sellers with products in "enhanced safety" categories need a $1,000,000 liability policy, whatever their sales. Amazon often rejects certificates without saying exactly why. This check reads your certificate and lists what doesn't match Amazon's rules, then writes the email to send your broker.
- $1,000,000 per occurrence and in aggregate, including products
- Occurrence basis, not claims-made
- Deductible shown and $10,000 or less
- "Amazon.com Services LLC and its affiliates and assignees" as additional insured
- 30 days' notice of cancellation, policy dates, your legal name
- A calendar reminder 30 days before the policy ends

What changed on 2 November 2026
Amazon announced on its seller forums on 3 September 2026 that sellers with products in enhanced safety categories must hold commercial liability insurance with at least $1,000,000 cover, even if they don't reach the usual trigger of $10,000 in sales in a month. It applies to new and existing listings. Amazon's named examples are children's products, cosmetic and ingestible products and lithium battery products, and it says the list isn't limited to those (PPC Land, 2 Nov 2026).
Sellers based in Mainland China must buy new policies through Amazon Insurance Accelerator: Amazon says it rejects newly submitted policies from other sources from 2 November. Policies submitted before then stay valid until they expire.
Amazon's certificate rules
Amazon's requirements page is only visible inside Seller Central, so this list comes from Amazon's forum notice and broker guides (Assureful, Scale Insights). Check your Seller Central page for the current wording.

Questions
Does my certificate leave my computer?
No. The PDF is read in your browser. We only count that a check ran; we never see the file or the results.
Does a clean result mean Amazon will accept it?
No. Amazon decides. Some rules can't be read from a certificate, such as the insurer's rating, and Amazon's requirements can change. A clean result means the common rejection reasons aren't showing.
Do I need this if I sell under $10,000 a month?
Yes, if any of your products are in an enhanced safety category, such as children's products, cosmetics, supplements or lithium batteries. Otherwise the usual rule applies: cover within 30 days of passing $10,000 in sales in a month, or when Amazon asks.
Do you sell insurance?
No. DisputeKit isn't an insurer or broker and isn't affiliated with Amazon. Run by Shubhankar Sharma; see contact.
