# How do I dispute a charge with Chase?

Sign in to chase.com or the Chase app, open the transaction and choose **Report a problem**. It works for Chase credit cards and checking accounts. If the charge is fraud, contact Chase straight away instead of waiting.

## Steps (chase.com or the app)

- Sign in and open the card or checking account with the charge.
- Tap the transaction, then **Report a problem**.
- Pick the reason: for example not received, not as described, cancelled, charged twice, or a refund that never arrived.
- Fill in the form with what happened and when you contacted the merchant.
- Review and submit.

**To track it:** open the account, tap the three-dot menu, then ** Account Services** and ** Track Disputes**.

## Before you file

- **Ask the merchant first**, in writing. A refusal or no reply makes your dispute much stronger. [How to ask for a refund](https://disputekits.com/how-to-ask-for-a-refund).
- **Gather proof**: receipt, order page, tracking, photos, cancellation confirmation and your messages with the seller.
- **Write it plainly**: what you bought, what went wrong, what you asked the merchant for, and what you want back.

## Your deadlines

- **Credit card billing errors** (Fair Credit Billing Act): dispute within ** 60 days** of the statement showing the charge. The card issuer must acknowledge within 30 days and resolve it within two billing cycles, no more than 90 days.
- **Debit card or checking fraud** (Regulation E): report fast. Your liability can be capped at $50 if you report a lost card within 2 business days, and grows the longer you wait.
- **Card network chargeback limits** are often around 120 days. [Chargeback time limits](https://disputekits.com/chargeback-time-limits).
